I went to Indiana this past weekend for Lauren's wedding. It was a gorgeous ceremony and I was so happy that I was able to go.
Cynthia was my savior. She drove me around and took me to a great LYS: Knitting Off Broadway. They had some really great sock yarns - too bad I'm not a sock knitter. Cynthia got this really cool yarn called Flat Feet. I got some Misti Alpaca Lace in pale, pale blue and pale, pale green.
I got back this morning and I'm so tired, I could fall over. I'm going to stare at the TV and knit Vince's scarf.

Thirl
I booked my hotel room for my upcoming voyage back to the Midwest for Lauren's wedding. I'm super excited to be going and am so happy that I am able to afford it without issues. After the last few years of living with little to no money, being able to go means so much to me.
That being said... Hotels.com offered quite a few LOLz this morning during my search. Behold:

I ripped out Vince's Herringbone Scarf. I love the pattern but I just can't watch every row I knit. Once I have a chance to spend a little more time on a scarf, I'll definitely use this pattern again.

R.I.P. Herringbone Scarf
I'm now doing a 1x1 rib. It looks great and I'm already about 5 inches in since casting on yesterday at lunch. We watched a lot of TV last night. We were 2 weeks behind on "Heroes" and "Chuck." We also watched Thursday's "Supernatural" which was so cool and fun in black and white. I really love that show. It's very underrated, but I think if more people watched it, everyone would realize how great it really is. (And how incredibly gorgeous Jensen Ackles is.) I got about 4 1/2 inches done on the scarf while we watched all of that.
My bizarre urge to knit a hat the other night could not be quelled. I ended up casting on for a little beret/tam with a ball of Lion Brand Homespun that has been sitting in a basket on my nightstand for a few months. I'm not entirely sure what the colorway is. It was a random ball from the Oma stash. I'm not a huge fan of Homespun usually. I love the colorways, but I always end up with a mess when I knit with it. This time, I didn't have to fight the yarn to knit my project.

I just did a 1x1 ribbed edge then increased the first knit row, knit about an inch, then did another increase row. I knit until the yarn started running out then did a decrease row (ssk,k), then kept on knitting until there was about a yard left then slipped all the stitched off onto a tapestry needle and pulled it closed. I sewed the hole shut and tada! Hat. It looks very cute.

Troubles.
I love this pattern. I truly do. But then I tried to knit it.
Okay, I will take a major part of blame -- I had a very specific stash yarn in mind and pattern calling for bulky weight yarn be damned, I was going to knit with it.
I grabbed some paper, a pencil and my phone (I couldn't be bothered to go into the other room and actually get my real calculator) and set to work. Ugh. What was a thinking! I read through trying to find something that could help with my yarn, but everything seemed a little off. One place told me to CO 112 and stitches! What??! I did some math and came up with 97. That still seemed high, but I gave it a shot. NOPE. Way too long. I was shooting or 16" and ended up somewhere around 25".
So I re-figured. This time I came up with 79 which then lead to me to believe that maybe it was 79 the whole time and I just had a cases of the reversies and switched the numbers. It's the right size now and I'm knitting along, but now all my YOs don't really seem to be slanted in the right direction. I'm trying to ignore my paranoia and just keep going, but that's not working either. I've managed to knit half a row since the paranoia set in. I think I just need to rip back to the ribbing and start again.
I do have to say the yarn is GLORIOUS though. Classic Elite Waterlily in Leaf. Mmm. It was a gift from Lauren ages ago and I've been wanting to make some great out of it.

Hey. What's up?
I am posting from the library. My internet at home is a bit wonky right now. I did manage to get a few photos uploaded of the freshly completed items.
The Silk Garden hat v 2.0:
1 skein Noro Silk Garden Color 205
US Size 6 DPNs
Basic hat recipe

And a cute little felted box:
Partial skeins of Yarns Brunswick Brunsana (Persian Yarn) in black and pale pink
US Size 11
8 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 3"
Based on the pattern in Mason-Dixon Knitting

The box has shrunk down a little more since drying totally. I might give it another round of felting. I forgot how fun these are to knit. I made a very small square on for Mom for Christmas and really liked it. This one felted a little better. I went up a few needle sizes. I think I got it prefect this time.
A HUGE GIANT FANTASTICALLY ENORMOUS Thanks to Lauren for my Lurve Package! I love, love, love the yarn. It's mouthwatering. The Swiffers wil help keep my hardwood floors looking lovely for photoshoots.
And thanks to Cynthia for making me the most lovely stitch markers! I love the colors. They match my Hourglass perfectly!
Thanks so much you guys! I was having a really crappy day and that really brightened things up!
ETA: Photos! I got them uploaded! Woo!

*Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

I find it very amusing that she's coming on quite possibly the most insane weekend possible in Columbus, Ohio --- The Ohio State/Michigan game. Yikes. Even I'm a little scared to be on campus at this time of year! I'm moving my car into a more secure location in a few minutes. (I'm parked in the tiny lot near the backdoor of my building which is right on the alley. Not too safe. I'm moving into the larger much more secure lot in between the two buildings. Hopefully there won't be too many fires tomorrow either. You might think I'm exaggerating...) It should still be fun, the number one and number two ranked college football teams in town at once. Just make sure you don't wear any blue in central Ohio in the next few days. If in doubt, wear red. Just wear red. I beg of you.
