I finished stuff. No really.

Since I actually finished a few things, I thought I should post some photos of them.

First, the Minimalist Cardigan:

I also knit a simple raglan cardigan over the weekend out of some bulky weight wool I recycled from a thrift store sweater. Have I mentioned how much I love recycling sweaters!? It's so much fun and can lead to some very fun new yarns to play with. (This one will actually be changing a bit, after wearing it yesterday, I decided to add a button band to provide a bit more coverage and prevent the rolling.) I didn't stretch this yarn out to get the kinks out of it because I like the sort of nubby look it gives the yarn as it's knit up.

It's based on the Anthropologie-Inspired Capelet, but when I got to the point where it should have been cast off, it hit about midway across my chest and looked like a wooly half-bra. I measured the Minimalist Cardigan and knit this to the same length (about 12 inches from the armpit). It looks much better. I also ripped out the original bottom of 1x1 ribbing and made it a nice garter stitch border with a nice, flexible cast off. I tried it on then to figure out how long to make the sleeves, I went with a sort of traditional tshirt length. I almost went longer, but they just looked so cute that length. Again, I did a garter stitch border on those too.

Motherfrakkin' super genius

I FINISHED THAT DAMNED CARDIGAN. HA! I TAUNT YOU KNITTING GODS!

Okay, got that out of my system. It's done. I'm happy. The sleeves are blocking now and will be sewn on tomorrow. (I don't count finishing as work, because I'm one of those freaks who really likes it and does it as I go. The body has been seamed for ages and the sleeves will take me about 5 minutes.)

Hey! Lookie!

I finished something today. Actually, I finished two somethings - a simple dishcloth and the Urchin hat I've been working on for a friend's birthday... which was last week...

I'm about 10 rows away from finishing the Minimalist Cardigan... I'm just so tired of moss stitch I just can't bring myself to finish it. Stupid huh?

Sleeves

I'm onto the decrease shaping on the sleeves. If I actually sit down and knit sometime this weekend, I might actually finish. Who knows though, because I've been saying I could finish this thing for weeks now.

And she was.

Hi. I'm a bad knit-blogger. I haven't been updating, I haven't been reading... I'm bad! I started a new job on the 13th and being a grown up is sort of kicking my ass. I did manage to get my Minimalist Cardigan seamed up (everything except the sleeves which are being knit) and it looks great! It's a little more form fitting than I thought it would be, but that's fine by me. Now I need to decide on the exact length of the sleeve - just above the elbow or just below?

The girl can't help it.

My socks haven't been touched in a few days. I've been concentrating on getting the Minimalist Cardigan done. I'm to the sleeve shaping on the fronts and should be able to get those done and ready to be blocked today or tomorrow. Maybe not today... we have Geeks Who Drink trivia tonight. We're on a hot streak having won last week!! Woo!

I'm working so hard to finish the MC because I want to knit quite a few other things but I am trying to not be a complete slag and actually finish a few BIG things before I start casting on for a million other things.

But I do have a nice little queue waiting - in no particular order...

Summer Tweed Lace Ribbon Scarf. I'm so excited to finally knit the gorgeous Rowan Summer Tweed Lauren got for me so long ago! Have I mentioned how much I am in love with everything Rowan puts out? I love their yarns! I will have to knit up a little swatch to see what size needles I will need. No one on Ravelry has knit this with Summer Tweed yet which really surprises me.

Nob Hill is also on the menu. I need to dig around and figure out what yarn to use. I might just double strand some stuff or look for some bulkier yarn in the stash. I'd really like to do it in colors similar to the ones in the photo, but I think the only bulky yarns I have are bright blue, red and black... We'll have to investigate.

I also have a few hats to knit: an earflap hat for a friend and a floppy hat for a friend's boss's daughter.

And last on the list for now is Alexa. I really need some short sleeved cardigans for the chilly evenings here in Boulder. I have some nice royal blue yarn that I think will look lovely with this. It's Caron One Pound, but I think it will knit up nicely for this. I'm lacking any sort of yarn budget right now so I'm knitting from the stash. It's time to get that thing under control!

Skunk not stroke.

I finished up the back of the Minimalist Cardigan last night. It looks... odd... sideways... strange. The moss stitch gave it a really bad bias which leads to difficult measuring and I'm going to guess a big effing pain to block. Yay. I'm looking forward to that.

I cast on for the front tonight. I'm going to do both front panels at the same time to try to speed up the process. Moss stitch gets boring.

I still haven't done ANYTHING with the Feather & Fan scarf. I really, really dislike the yarn. It bunches up and tangles. It's gorgeous, but annoying as hell.

I just added a crapload of cotton yarn to my stash on Ravelry. Most of it needs photos taken which I'll try to get tomorrow.

Blah, blah, blah. I sort of stopped writing in the middle of all of this and lost my train of thought.

Minimal

I've been slacking off on my other projects while stocking up on etsy.

After spending about a week knitting lots and lots of the same thing, I decided I should try to at least finish up the back of my Minimalist Cardigan. It's been balled up in the bottom of the knitting basket in the meantime.

There are a few other things in there I need to finish up, mainly the Gold Feather & Fan scarf.

My brain isn't really working all that well, so I'm going to knit a few more miles of moss stitch and watch Wire in the Blood.

Stitch 'n Twitch

Miles and miles of moss stitch is hard to do. I'm just to the sleeve decreases on my Minimalist Cardigan. It's not too bad of a knit, but I'm not looking forward to the sleeves and front panels. That's a lot of moss stitch. It looks lovely though!!
