To do

I have quite a to do list to get through in the next few days. I did get a great batch of photos (finally!) this afternoon.

superpink

When I was going through my stash the other day,* I was able to empty out one of the smaller storage bins. I have a matching set of three and  two of them are full of FOs for the store, now all three can be used for FOs. I have crazy, elaborate plans for the stash. A slow, but hopefully more productive way of inventorying it on Ravelry. But that is not on the list until March!

Part of the list for this month is updating photos and getting FOs listed. As I was organizing the dishcloths today for photos, I realized there were at least half a dozen colors that I have NEVER listed. Oop. Who knows when I knit all of these things, dishcloths are quickie projects and I tend to make a ton all at once. I can also knit them without looking most of the time, so they were popular study-knit projects.

*I finally found my tripod! I've been looking for it for weeks!

FO & WIP

I finished the Knotty but Nice hat for Ryan last week. It looks great. The cables are a bit tight around the middle, like many of the comments said, but with the blocking and the stretchiness of the yarn, I think it should be fine. It was a really fun knit and the yarn I used (Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece) was really nice to work with. I have almost half the skein left, so I might make myself a pair of fingerless gloves.

January 26, 2010 - Ryan's Hat

I restarted a sweater I started a long time ago. I got the yarn for a steal from Webs. Since it's a bulky yarn on size 13 needles, it's a pretty quick knit. I'm almost done with the back piece. I'm excited to get this done and start wearing it around! I have a feeling this is going to be a favorite item in my closet.

Sideways Grande Cloche

I finished a hat yesterday. It's been a while since I've finished anything except a dishcloth...

January 23, 2010 - Sideways Grande Cloche

It's the Sideways Grande Cloche from Boutique Knits. It's very cute in the photo, however, I'm not a big fan of it now that I've knit it. It's WAY too big for me and the twisted bit will not stay twisted so much as slumped. I blocked it out last night in the hopes that the ribbing will bunch up a bit more but I don't think that really helped honestly. The yarn is a recycled angora/nylon/whatever else was thrown in there blend. But just enough angora to make me sneeze endlessly as I knit it.

January 23, 2010 - Sideways Grande Cloche (2)

I did a 3-needle bind off to join the body together, and again for the pieces that made up the twist. There are odd bits that sort of stick out at the bottom from the joins, but since the hat is so frakkin' long, I'll end up folding it up and covering that. I think if the hat actually fit correctly in length, I might take the twist out and redo it in one piece (as a cable or braid), but since it's so large, I'm not going to bother.

I think I'll make another one of these, but with about 9 less stitches for the body and a cable.

Petals

I decided to change the Mulberry Cowl around. I CO 60 stitches then I twisted my knitting every 10 stitches (back and forth so I didn’t end up with a mobius) after knitting about an inch. It gave the edge a slightly flower look.

I finished knitting it this afternoon and it's drying now. I love the way the yarn worked up. The color changes just a bit and it's really pretty.

Motherfrakkin' super genius

I FINISHED THAT DAMNED CARDIGAN. HA! I TAUNT YOU KNITTING GODS!

Okay, got that out of my system. It's done. I'm happy. The sleeves are blocking now and will be sewn on tomorrow. (I don't count finishing as work, because I'm one of those freaks who really likes it and does it as I go. The body has been seamed for ages and the sleeves will take me about 5 minutes.)

What I'm Knitting Now

I still haven't managed to upload all the photos from the stuff I knit while I was in Ohio. I'm terrible...

But I've been knitting some new stuff so here it is:
DSCN0742

A Herringbone scarf for Vince. It's nice warm Cascade 220. It's a neat color, sort of mossy golden-green. He picked it out.

DSCN0739

My first lace!! A scarf for my Mom for Mother's Day. (She doesn't read this all that much, so I don't think I'm ruining it, if I did -- OOPS!) It's yummy Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK. It's coming out so well.

Back to the stuff finished in Ohio:
Red Stripe

A great little stripey hat. I listed it on etsy yesterday. It's soft and warm and perfect for spring!

Red Fetching

A pair of red Fetching. I really do love this pattern! It's fun, fast and cute. These ones are Rowan RYC Cashsoft DK. The smoother yarn really made a difference in making the cables pop.

I think there is just one more hat thing to be posted from Ohio. I actually want to take some new photos of it because they all turned out lousy. I knit a set of buttery yellow dishcloths for Vince's Mom while I was there, but I didn't take photos of any of them. I also knit a handtowel for our bathroom, I need a picture of that too...

I'm planning a hat for my brother's upcoming birthday. I picked out a pattern yesterday and now just need to decide on yarn. I started knitting some pieces for a new blanket too. I have no idea way, I just felt like knitting a big diagonal strip yesterday, so I did. It's nice mindless knitting since everything else on the needles right now requires lots of attention. Maybe I can finish it up in time for Christmas and gift it to someone.

I think that's it! I'm job hunting. I hope I can find something good soon. I need to make some money so I can pay bills and buy yarns.

Back.

I got home from Ohio yesterday morning. I'm off to see the Yarn Harlot tonight in Denver.

I knit a lot over the trip. I finished Sesame!! (I need to re-sew on my buttons, but other than that it's lovely and I wear it constantly.) I knit some hats, some gifts, some of everything.

I'll be getting photos of everything in the next few days so I can share.

I admit I've been completely lax in updating my FOs now that Ravelry is around.

Finishing Up

Oops. I meant to post yesterday and got distracted by editing photos and playing on Ravelry. Who can blame me?

So photos! I haven't posted photos of F.O.s in a long time so I'm just going to make a little gathering.

1. 1978, a leftovers hat I finished ages ago but never got any good photos of it.
2. Aimee's Red Menace scarf. Was origianlly a stash busting blanket from DECADES ago.
3. Gryffindor book scarf for Julie.
4. Grey Cashmere hat for Etsy shop.
5. Green & White striped basic dishcloth for Vince's dad. Finished Monday. (I gave him a red & green on for Christmas but didn't take a photo.)
6. Oceanside Scarf for Vince's Mom. Actually has 2 more colors at the end but I can't find the photos I took of it...
7. Open Cabled Hat for Julie. Great hat. I loved it. I'll post more about it later. I made a set of matching mittens but the photos are on Vince's camera. I should get those off there...
8. Christmas Ballband. Another for Vince's Dad.
9. Purple & White Ballband. Finished on Monday. Just because. I'll probably sent it to my mom for her birthday.
10. Limeade Ballband. For Mom.

(If you click on the photos, most have more than one photo with them. I'm not writing out details because, frankly, it's all in Ravelry... and I hate typing out details. I only have details now because Ravelry makes it so frakkin' easy!)

I really like this project: A Tree Undone. It would be something Boulder-ites would enjoy. I found it via this article about Subversive Knitting.
